Who we are and
what we believe
This page has little or nothing to do with The Lone Ranger. This is a page about us,
Joe and Sandy Southern. While we are huge fans of the masked man, it is only a
vocation and a side interest for us. We are first and foremost Christians. Our lives
are centered around our relationship with Jesus Christ. We want yours to be as well.
On this page you will find our statement of faith, our testimonies and links to some
fantastic Web sites.
Who is Jesus?
Jesus is the Christ, the son of the
living God, our Lord in Heaven.
We believe in his virgin birth, that
he walked and lived a sinless life
on Earth, was crucified for the
sins of mankind, was buried,
descended into darkness and was
raised from the dead on the third
day. He ascended into Heaven
after 40 days and now sits at the
right hand of God the Father as
He prepares a place for those
whose name is found in the Book
of Life. We believe that the only
way to obtain eternal life is
through a personal relationship
with Jesus. We believe in the Holy
Trinity of God the Father, Jesus
the Son and our savior, and the
Holy Spirit, which dwells within
each believer here on Earth.
He died for us
Grace can be a difficult concept
for some to grasp. Receiving
eternal life with God in Heaven
depends on our acceptance of
the greatest gift of all, His son
Jesus Christ. All we must do to
receive this gift is accept it. It's
that easy.
We are saved by grace, not by
works. How we live our lives as
Christians and the works we
perform help determine our
position in Heaven, not our
acceptance there.

The Bible is the word of God
We believe the Holy Bible is the infallible word of God. The Bible is the only authority
for what we believe about God’s moral law, salvation from sin and how we should live
our lives.
The 10 Commandments

ONE: "You shall have no other gods before Me."

TWO: "You shall not make for yourself a carved image -- any likeness of anything
that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water
under the earth."*

THREE: "You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain."

FOUR: "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy."

FIVE: "Honor your father and your mother."

SIX: "You shall not murder."

SEVEN: 'You shall not commit adultery.'

EIGHT: "You shall not steal."

NINE: "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor."

TEN: "You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your
neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his
donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's."
**Wait a minute! Isn't
supporting the Lone
Ranger a form of
idol worship?
Doesn't that violate
your Christian
beliefs?
We feel what we do
does not violate our
beliefs and is not idol
worship. First of all, we
do not worship the
Lone Ranger or look to
the character as any
kind of deity. We
uphold and share the
values supported by
the Lone Ranger,
which include honesty,
peace, fair play,
justice, forgiveness,
reconciliation, decency
and integrity. We find
that these values are
upheld by most every
fan of the Lone
Ranger and that many
Lone Ranger fans are
also Christians. We
also believe that the
Lone Ranger
character exhibits
Christian faith. For
more on that, please
ready the story below.
Our calling
Nothing is more important to us than spreading the Good News of our Lord Jesus
Christ. Christianity is not "religion," but rather a personal relationship between God
and man. "Religion" is a vain attempt by man to achieve the righteousness of God.
We believe Christianity is God's plan to bridge the gap between Himself and man. To
accomplish that, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, into the world to die for our sins.
Jesus willingly died on the cross for our sins and rose from the grave three days later
for our salvation.
We believe Christianity has nothing to do with what we have done for God, but
rather everything to do with what God has done for us.
When a person commits their life to God, they confess their sins, repent and
accept the gift of eternal life in Heaven through the salvation granted by the blood of
Jesus. At that time the Holy Spirit comes to dwell within them. They become a New
Creation and live a life apart from the things of this world.
If you would like to know more about Christianity and everlasting life, please
contact

The people operating those site will be more than happy to help you engage in a
personal relationship with Jesus Christ. And nothing in this world is more important or
more fulfilling than that!

The Lone Ranger a true believer
By Joe Southern
The Silver Bullet
Of what religion was that masked man? When one thinks of the Lone Ranger they
often recall a man of action. But what about a man of faith?
He was certainly no preacher and at times broke some of the 10 Commandments
when it suited his need. But if you watch the show, listen to the radio programs or
read anything about the masked man, you know him to be a character of deep faith.
More so, he respects people of all faiths and often preaches tolerance of all
religions.
In the Lone Ranger Creed — the statement of belief by the Lone Ranger — he
says, “That God put the firewood there” and, in the last line, he says he believes “In
my Creator.”
Further evidence of his faith can be found in the writer’s guidelines as set forth by
Fran Striker. It says, “The Lone Ranger is not shown to be a member of any specific
church, but is definitely a respecter of all creeds. He is generally visualized as a
Protestant but one of his most beloved friends … is the Catholic Padre of a Mission.
He shows respect for preachers and worshipers of every denomination, including the
Indian’s version of their own Great Spirits.”
Rob Archey is a real life preacher who has taken to using the Lone Ranger as
a frequent sermon illustration. Although he doesn’t preach while in costume, he does
espouse the morals and values that guide the Lone Ranger.
“Basically, there are biblical lessons without having to quote scripture,” Archey said.
He said the half-hour Lone Ranger shows are “short morality plays” that “teach
children right and wrong.”
“They’re able to handle gray areas when they grow up,” he said.
Often, the Lone Ranger can be heard quoting or paraphrasing scripture in the
television and radio shows. He has never backed down from an opportunity to
support his faith.
“You’re right Padre, every man needs a faith and a symbol to live by,” the Lone
Ranger says in the episode “The Cross of Santo Domingo.”
For many fans, the Lone Ranger has become a symbol of good, justice, truth, and
fair play. And those values are clearly taken from his belief in the Creator.
